Some pictures from the Summit of the Americas in Quebec City

I know this is the simplest web page i could do to publish these photos. I tried at first to build a monstrous web site with my reports of the events, the story of my arrestation, my opinions about what happened around my home and little stories to provide for each photos.

The reality is that I had been very tired after the summit, so my day job, my fight for my defence, a few expositions with my photos and a couple of health and personal troubles had all taken away from me the little energies that were remaining. Nowadays I spent my spare time for developing my newly revived amateur "career", as the rebounds of the summit has given me lots of new opportunities to meet cool people and to gain some respect and visibility as an amateur photographer. The forthcoming months could finally convince me that those 10 years of photography were not done in vain and that I do have some potential in this kind of art.

However, since the demand have been strong, I take a little bit of my time to present you some of my pictures in this very simple presentation. I will maybe take some time to do a state-of-the-art web site someday, but for now you have the essentials. Have fun!

The exhibition kit...

First of all, here is my selection of pictures that have been exposed to the public at four events in Quebec City and Montreal, and other occasions are coming. Images are somehow big, so if you are using only 800x600 screen resolution, you should look at the other sections.

Police warfare

Well, you won't see guns, bullets or teargas canisters, but all the rest, with some unique pictures of the surveillance cameras, of a flash-arrestation I had the chance to witness, of a prisoner bus going to jail, and of troops getting back home... cool pictures.

Some souvenirs from Quebec-in-cage...

During the days that preceded the summit, lots of people came into the downtown area to see them: the fences. They were the shame of the even, seen by people angry to discover their beautiful city they are used to be proud of, being disguised into a military camp...

Miscenalleous pictures of the days before the summit.

When paranoia got the population of the city, everyone was thinking about a kind of end of world, having nightmares of burning blocks and hard street fights. Some people displayed a SOS, other hidden themselves behind plywood...

The first protest on Thursday night, the anarchist's march.

The third protest which occurred in the lowertown, Friday afternoon.

At this moment, the fence has been taken down in the upper city. Participants of the alternative summit spontaneously joined a march coming from the university and climbed into the Cote d'Abraham to install the second protest area, that will become later the second front of a 48 hour fight.

Friday evening, in the St-Jean-Baptiste sector

The sector is filled by gaz coming from the battlefields just nearby. People try to stay present and to do pacific protests, sit-ins, etc. Some cool pictures here.

The protest of Dufferin on Friday night

That was for me the time to enter the war zones and to understand what was really happening. Here police forces, initially behind the fences, decided to go outside to push back the protestors as far as possible, with lots and lots and lots of teargas. That did not work, so the police decided to attack on the side to split the crowd, creating a panic that pushed people downward excepting the trapped ones that were near the front. Too bad, I was in the wrong part of the split, so that was where my mission suddenly stopped to become a nightmare into jail. Last picture is about 15 seconds before I got arrested.

Saturday night on fire

Saturday night in many sectors of the lower town, the theme of the night was "fire" and police forces went incredibly far away from the fences to attack peaceful people having fun, provoking a riot in the lower town.

The end of the hell... a quiet Sunday, except in jail

Some pictures of activities around St-Jean street and the protest around the Orsainville jail where all arrested people were having bad times.
