Even if a part of the anarchist movement detaches itself to attack post-leftism, primitivism and whatever else they can't grasp, we know that the issues remain relevant.

Samir Kuntar, Israel's longest held Lebanese prisoner who has been incarcerated in Israeli jail for the past 30 years. In fact the Hezbollah operation last year in which 2 Israeli soldiers were kidnapped, which sparked the 34 day long war, was meant to use the 2 soldiers as bargaining chips in order to force Israel to release Samir Kuntar.

Daniel Debut

“The End of America: Letter of Warning To A Young Patriot” by Naomi Wolf (Chelsea Green Publishing 2007) is the Thomas Paine hue and cry to The Peoples’ nation suffocating from tyranny. This concise booklet, of 155 pages of text, is an absolute must read for “every” American who cares about liberty—irrespective of political affiliation. It stands in direct opposition to the fast encroachment of the leviathan’s despotism that is evolving to suffocate our livelihoods.

Struggling for the autonomy of Venezuela’s social movements

* This editorial comes from issue #53 (May-June 2008) of El Libertario, a Venezuelan anarchist voice of ideas and proposals for action. It confirms our commitment to autonomous social mobilization, which has already begun to express itself through concrete struggles from below, as in the recent steelworkers conflict.

Factory closures, layoffs and suspensions: this is what the bourgeoisie offers us globally!

Anonyme, Wednesday, April 30, 2008 - 21:16 (Analyses | Economy | Imperialism | Politics | Poverty | Repression | Resistance | Solidarite internationale | Travail / Labor)

Politicians like Giles Duceppe, leader of the Block, have become political assets on the backs of workers. Their slogan may be “Buy Canada” but what they’re really saying is “Sell everywhere”. Today it’s “Buy Canada” and tomorrow it’s “Defend Canada or Quebec”… And let us kill our enemies, the workers of Vietnam, China, Russia, Romania or elsewhere through a world war of their choosing. Capitalist competition, economic crises are always regulated by wars with workers from opposing imperialist camps, obliged to kill themselves.

Ruling Against Mumia Shows: No Justice in the Capitalist Courts

Ruling Against Mumia Shows: No Justice in the Capitalist Courts

On March 27, the U.S. appeals court in Philadelphia reaffirmed the frame-up conviction of Mumia Abu-Jamal, the former Black Panther Party spokesman and world-renowned radical journalist who has been locked up on Pennsylvania’s death row for more than a quarter century. After previously rejecting Mumia’s request to present evidence of his innocence, as well as a host of issues showing that he was railroaded by a racist court, the Court turned down Mumia’s request for a new trial. It upheld the 2001 ruling by a federal district judge that ordered a new hearing on the sentence, but limited the “choice” to the living hell of life imprisonment without parole ... or execution. Mumia is innocent. He was declared guilty and sentenced to die because of his revolutionary politics and because for years he had been a thorn in the side of the racist rulers of the misnamed “city of brotherly love.” Around the world, millions have come out in defense of Jamal. This latest ruling, like all those that preceded it, shows that the exploited and oppressed must have no faith in the racist injustice system. We call on the workers movement to mobilize its power to free Mumia now!

[Afghan MP Joya] Canada should change its policy on Afghanistan

by Malalai Joya, an Afghan MP currently appealing her suspension from the country's parliament. She spoke to rabble.ca editor Derrick O'Keefe.

After 9/11, unfortunately the United States and its allies like Canada pushed us from the frying pan into the fire, by putting in power the Northern Alliance criminals and warlords. As long as they follow this wrong policy, the situation in Afghanistan will become more disastrous.

Philippines: Greed, Corruption and Illegitimate Debt

Greed is defined as an excessive or uncontrolled desire for or pursuit of money, wealth, food, or other possessions especially when this denies the same goods to others. It is reprehensible acquisitiveness, an insatiable longing for power, and supremacy in order to advance individual interests at the cost of other's well being.
