I hate to say it, but I do believe that this injustice that our US judicial system has been inflicting on the tens of thousands of our Middle Class and Working Poor Amercans (who are the least educated US prison inmates) with prolonged incarceration, is a very realistic human rights violation if not a crime against humanity issue.

First paragraph (Teaser):

This Saturday, there will be an international action day for the, by now numerous, eco-activists who are currently imprisoned in the US.

The repression against people carrying out direct actions in the United States continues to rise. The most recent conviction in a series of sentences is that of Eric McDavid, who was sentenced to more than 19 years in prison (http://supporteric.org). He has actually never carried out any actions, but was allegedly part of a group that (according to a police informant) was planning them. He was sentenced on grounds of a witness statement of this police informant, who had not only infiltrated but actually steered the group, and received at least 75.000 USD for her "work". Eric is 19 years old. Because he refused to "confess" or cooperate in the investigation, he received this incredibly high sentence.

First paragraph (Teaser):

19 May 2008. A World to Win News Service. A worldwide campaign is emerging to demand the freedom of Dr Binayak Sen, a public health doctor and human rights campaigner in the impoverished Indian state of Chhattisgarh who has now spent a year in prison, accused of aiding the rural rebellion led by the Communist Party of India (Maoist). The paediatrician distanced himself from the politics of armed revolution, but refused to stop exposing and denouncing the oppression and injustice practiced against the adivasis (tribal people). He has been particularly vocal against the authorities' attempts to unleash counterrevolutionary terror in the countryside through the state-sponsored paramilitaries called the Salwa Judum.

The Mandate of Heaven (Excerpt). A detailed account of Maoist Chinese foreign policy is beyond the scope of this article, but some examples will illustrate the central thesis: that China’s foreign policy is in no way different from that of other world powers. The Three-Worlds Theory was used to justify Chinese alliances with right-wing reactionary governments during the 1970s and 1980s.

Today it’s “Buy Canada” and tomorrow it’s “Defend Canada or Quebec”… And let us kill our enemies, the workers of Vietnam, China, Russia, Romania or elsewhere through a world war of their choosing. Capitalist competition, economic crises are always regulated by wars with workers from opposing imperialist camps, obliged to kill themselves.
