The requirements to enter the US were unachievable, so Kifindi deemed that the requirements were imposed in bad faith on the part of the US government. (Kifindi is of the opinion that perhaps the Canadian government (and the congo), prompted that response from the US consulate). At this time, no visa was given, and Kifindi felt that all his papers were good anyways, so he decided to go to the border anyways. April 19 2006 Court date L'orignal criminal court Asked to appear before the court on unknown and undefined charges. A case that Kifindi thought it was closed. Why wasn't it closed when the prosecutor Mr Pelletier recommended it be closed because of lack of evidence? June 6 2006 Kifindi leaves for the US Montreal Quebec In the morning, Kifindi was standing at the train station, he saw a black man who was following him who said something like "I can see Kifindi, he is going to take a train to the US". Kifindi arrived at the border at the US, and was detained. At the border, a US agent detained Kifindi and sequestered him. Border Agent Melissa and colleagues took Kifindi, in a car, to Champlain border station. There they took his fingerprints, Kifindi showed them his papers and letters of diplomatic immunity and Canadian identify certificate. It was a stateless certificate. They then told Kifindi to go to Montreal and apply again. They called a taxi and forced Kifindi into the taxi, which took him to the Canadian side of the border. June 6 2006 Kifindi at Canada border crossing Champlain Border Canada authorities interviewed Kifindi. They put him on a bus back to Montreal. June 6 2006 Arrives in Montreal Montreal Quebec Kifindi calls Madam Sophie at the US consulates office. She says your friends must send letters to expidite the visa approval, and you must call another number to get an appointment the US foreign affairs officers. Kifindi says he will tell his friends to send the letters. June 12 2006 Professor Shapiro Send letter Montreal Quebec Professor Shapiro faxed a letter to the US consulates office, asking for Madam Sophie to expidte the visa. He also explains that Kifindi cannot get an immediate diplomatic passport from the Congo, because it would take longer. She said you will need to call and get an appointment, and within two months we will call you and set up an appointment. Finally she said "If you think what you have is correct, then go ahead and go to the US". (In effect she was blowing him office and wanted to get rid of him). June 14 3006 Kifindi enters US again Montreal Quebec Kifindi calls friend to take him to the Champlain border. Once Kifindi arrived and looked at this papers again, they asked him to go back to the embassy in Montreal. Then they looked at the Canadian government records and said "The Canadian govermnet has written many things about you". Then Kifindi realized he was not getting a visa because of that, and that his security was also at risk. Kifindi then claimed refugee status with the US. They detained him, took his papers, obtained his fingerprints, and then interrogated him. They took him to the back of the police station there and then after an hour, they told him he would have to first go to detention in the washington county jail. They said he could have a 'fear of persecution interview', Kifindi registered for one (via letter), but they disregarded it, and took him to detention at the washington county jail. Before leaving, they asked him to sign some papers, Kifindi refused and they handcuffed him, and took to the washington county jail. Kifindi is given an alien identification number. A99-576-640-USA. Kifindi doesn't have the paperwork because the Canadian police stole his papers. June 17-18 2006 Took Kifindi to the Hospital New York Gave him a physical exam including dental, chest xray's. There they wanted Kifindi to sign some papers giving the US authorities permission to take Kifindi's kidneys. Kifindi refused. When Kifindi returned to the Jail, Kifindi wrote a letter to the chief of the detention center at the Jail asking why they wanted his kidneys. The detention officers, after looking at his diplomatic immunity papers, and realizing they couldn't keep him there, released him to Department of Homeland Security officers. June 20 2006 Left the washington county jail New York They then took him to Albany County Jail. There they interviewd him. June - July At the Albany County Jail New York Received medical exams, and attempted to give him some immunization shots. Kifindi refused, and they kept in solitary isolation for 18 days. After he was released from the the confinement, Kifindi was grouped with other men. Together they talked, and they all realized that each one had been asked to have different organs removed. Some had been unfortunate enough to have their organs forcibally removed. June 28 2006 Interview with an officer New York Met with officer Nina Shah from Newark New Jersey. She gave him an interview. They asked him to sign papers proving that 'He wasn't detained overly long'. Kifindi refused because by that time he had been detained for at least 8 days. Kifindi suggested to them that his french son was already in the US somewhere as the information was given to him by the French government. This lady officer later verified that the son was indeed in the US, in Miami Florida. He was informed that he should persue the case of granting refugee status based off of the claim that he already has a son in the United States. July 17 2006. Entered back into Canada Professor Shapiro got the The Scholars at Risk organization to intervene to get Kifindi released. They released him at the Border, and Kifindi informed them he didn't want to come back to Canada. He said that if released he would walk back into the US. Officer Carla called the Canadia Police to come and wait for Kifindi at the border. The Ontario police met him at the border and arrested him and took him to the Hawksbury Jail. Why were the Ontario police allowed to come into Quebec and arrest someone? July 17 2006. Transferred to Ottowa He was in the Hawksbury jail for 4 hours. Then they took him to the Enes jail in Ottowa. There he was beaten the first time. His belongings were stolen. The medical results of the first beating were hidden. July 18 2006 Appeared before the Judge He appeared before the Judge on charges stating that he didn't appear before the court on the date of April 19 2006 for the matter of his children's case. The court ruled he needed bail. They then brought him back to jail for two days. Why should he need bail if the Prosecutor Mr. Pelletier recommended that there was no criminal accusation per/say against Kifindi. The police exagerrated the case. The family court gave a decision saying there is no matter to be formally judged. July 18 2006 Remanded back to the Enes Jail in Ottowa. On the 19th the jailors wanted to give Kifindi a shot (with a needle). Kifindi stated he has already had shots enough in many different police centers. And that he didn't want anymore. They said if he didn't want a shot he would have to be detained in solitary confinement again. The police put him into a filthy room, and later beat him up. They threatened him with his life if he reported anything against the Canadian government, and then beat him again. They started shouting, and mocking Kifindi. As part of their mockery, they offered him a 'last' meal done in mockery, because they wanted Kifindi to remember it. The food was mockingly offered from the heads of state of foreign governments. After the meal, Kifindi was taken to an empty room where there was no camera, no window, and lots of fans called the Hallroom. An inmate called chris told kifindi that in that area the guards discipline inmates at that location. Later Kifindi started banging on the door at 4:00 AM. They then came in an abused him to his head again. They wore gloves. July 19 2006 further events Ottowa They called the psychiatric doctor, who came to interview Kifindi. He interviewed Kifindi, and upon finding his true condition, refused to administer any treatment to him because he was mentally sounds. Kifindi told him that he was beaten, the doctor called in the guards who beat Kifindi (And two woman witnesses), and Kifindi confronted them in front of the doctor. The guards were suprised that he survived the fan room. The guards when confronted in the presence of the doctor, felt remorseful and apologized. Kifindi accepted their apology. In order to finish the interview, and cover up their mistakes, they offered Kifindi a shot (through a needle), and offered to take him to a good place. Kifindi doesn't know the guards names, but he knows there faces. July 19 2006 Taken to another room Ottowa Took him to a newer, nicer, clean place for people who have committed no crime. Here he noticed that people taken to these jails are not necessarily criminals. His personal belongings were not returned to him, contrary to the law. July 20 2006 Appeared before the Judge L'orignal criminal court There Kifindi's landlord came and signed for his release. Kifindi had to sign for release on too many unjust and unlawful conditions that were forced upon him. Kifindi contested those terms but he was forced to sign them if he wanted out of jail. Since he wanted out of jail, he signed. He asked for a lawyer which was refused. All the conditions were unjust, the criminal court has no jurisdiction because it was a family matter. They were impeding Kifindi from running for elections in the Congo. July 22 2006 Went to the Hospital Kifindi's health condition was critical. A friend of Kifindi (In Toronto) named Angela Johnson, gave Kifindi money to go to the Hospital. He stayed for 23 hours starting at 3 PM. The hospital gave a medical report showing he indeed was beaten. July 23 2006 Received a report from the police Montreal Quebec This was a report about the police abuse when Kifindi was arrested the first time on April 28 2005 in Hawksbury. In connection with the Montreal police. Kifindi has appealed the report. Aug 2 2006 Court date L'orignal criminal court The court had already postponed the court date by themselves, to the 4th of October. They didn't explain to Kifindi anything that they were doing. He asked at the beginning that he wanted evidence for his the allegations of beating his children (which was why he was falsely arrest on April 28 2006). Orignally Kifindi alleged that there was a coverup over the suspicious death of Mr William Bill Anderson. Kifindi tried to expose the coverup over his death, which brought the wrath of the governor general of Canada upon him. They told days before he was arrested that he should meddle in their affairs, and they told him that they would soon arrest him. They did arrest him on April 28 2005 on false charges of beating his children (They had to come up with something). Kifindi doesn't want his children to start school in Ontario because they are residents of Quebec.

DR Congo: UN mission condemns attacks, calls for restraint ahead of elections – (19 October 2006)

With less than two week to go before the second round of presidential elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the United Nations mission has condemned the latest acts of violence and called for restraint as the vast country seeks to cement its transition from a six-year civil war.
At its weekly news briefing yesterday, the UN Mission in the DRC (MONUC) renewed its call to the political actors to think, above all, about the interests of the Congolese people and avoid acts of violence and hate messages so that the electoral process can be completed successfully and peacefully.
President Joseph Kabila and Vice-President Jean-Pierre Bemba, the top candidates in July�s first round, will compete in a presidential run-off on 29 October, the final stage of the largest and most complex elections the UN has ever helped organize and the country�s first free polls in 45 years.
�MONUC is encouraging the Congolese people to carry on with the same discipline and maturity they have demonstrated so far in order to keep the electoral process credible,� the mission said in a news release.
It called on the Congolese to get engaged in positive debates, to vote massively as loyal citizens and accept the outcome of the elections.
With the regard to the post-electoral period, MONUC invited the new government to rule with the best interest of the people in mind and asked opposition parties to play their important role respectfully.
