How is it possible that with so much discussion around climate change we continue to have carbon dioxide spewing celebrations endorsed by our local, provincial and federal governments? The time has come to reconsider having the Snowbirds fly at Canadian airshows and other community celebrations.

Well, it wasn’t an earthquake or an explosion; rather www.greenmuze.com went live at about 8am, August 28th, 2008. It was a momentous occasion for the GreenMuze team and took us damn near a year to get here. Although, I don’t think we caused so much as a blip on the web Richter scale. It usually takes a few days to start to percolate (or marinate) enough so that the web-Gods and Goddesses start to notice us - which is OK by us as we are still in the process of loading articles.

Vassili B. Nesterenko (1934 - 25.08.2008)

Vice-president of the French- Belarus association "Enfants de Tchernobyl Bélarus", Vassili Nesterenko has died. Nuclear physicist at the highest level in the Soviet Union, since 1986, he has fought against the disinformation on Chernobyl. In 1990, with the help of Sakharov, he set up the Independent Institute for Radioprotection BELRAD to investigate radioactive contamination and to provide assistance to the affected populations, in particular the children.

Citizens Press for Total Ban on Endosulfan to Put Off “Toxic Time Bomb”

This Saturday, there will be an international action day for the, by now numerous, eco-activists who are currently imprisoned in the US.

The repression against people carrying out direct actions in the United States continues to rise. The most recent conviction in a series of sentences is that of Eric McDavid, who was sentenced to more than 19 years in prison (http://supporteric.org). He has actually never carried out any actions, but was allegedly part of a group that (according to a police informant) was planning them. He was sentenced on grounds of a witness statement of this police informant, who had not only infiltrated but actually steered the group, and received at least 75.000 USD for her "work". Eric is 19 years old. Because he refused to "confess" or cooperate in the investigation, he received this incredibly high sentence.

We have been in France for 28 days, and over a month since the walk began. We have had huge support from not just local people but globally the walk has been joined by people from Japan, Canada, German, France, Italy, Australia, Sweden, Scotland, England, Niger & the United States of America.
